Beside hospice, never instead of it
What non-medical help looks like in a hospice house
A hired non-medical caregiver does not replace the hospice team, which keeps comfort, medicines and every clinical decision. A caregiver adds presence in the hours the plan leaves open.

The familyThe decisions, the calls to the line, the notebook, and the hours you choose to keep for yourselves.
A non-medical caregiverOvernight sitting, help with bathing, dressing and getting up, meals, laundry, company, and a few hours so someone can leave the house.
Most families start small, one overnight a week or a morning when the aide does not come, and adjust as the weeks change. First ask the hospice social worker what aide time your plan already includes.
